Chongqing’s CPI up 3.8% in July

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Chongqing increased by 3.8% compared with last year, 0.5 percentage points above the national average. Chongqing has continuously recorded a monthly CPI increase rate of 3.8% in recent three months, according to Chongqing Statistics Bureau on August 23.

However, the increase rate of commodities price has been still kept in a moderate range. Statistics shows that except the declining clothing price, the prices of food, housing, alcohol, tobacco, etc. are on the rise. The main factor of the CPI increase lies in the food price, which rose by 6.9% year on year in July.
